  • Please note that the following information represents answers to the most common questions about the practice, but is not intended as a comprehensive list of our policies and procedures.
  • The office is generally open from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.  However, individual clinicians' schedules do vary, and some may offer early or late appointments.

  • The office will be closed to observe major holidays.
  • Please use our Appointment Request Form or call our Care Team at (205) 440-6292 to schedule an appointment as a new patient.
  • Please be aware that not all Providers may be accepting new patients.
  • If the patient is a minor (under 18), both the child and a parent/guardian must be present for the initial evaluation appointment.
  • Please submit any prior records or reports that you think may be helpful to your clinician to your initial appointment, especially any psychological/educational evaluations.
  • Please note Care Team will provide you New Patient Forms to complete at the time of booking. These must to be completed prior to meeting with your Provider.
  • Alabama Psychiatry & Counseling is in network with many of the major insurers in the region.  You will need to check with our scheduling coordinator to confirm that we are in network with your insurer.
  • Even if you believe that Alabama Psychiatry & Counseling is in network with your insurer, we recommend that you call your insurer to confirm this and to "pre-authorize" your treatment prior to arriving for your first appointment.
  • Please use our handy new Prescription Refill Request Tool to submit routine refill requests.
  • Kindly check the criteria prior to submitting or call our office at 205-440-6292 if you do not qualify.

  • Please use our Appointment Request Form or call our Care Team at (205) 440-6292 to schedule an appointment.
  • Please arrive at least 5 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment and check in at the front desk.  If you need to update any insurance or demographic (address, phone number, etc.) information, please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment.
  • Follow up appointments with an M.D. or Nurse Practitioner are generally scheduled for 15-20 minutes, longer as necessary.
  • Follow up appointments with a Psychologist or Therapist are generally scheduled for 45-60 minutes.
  • If the patient is a minor (under 18) they must be present for the appointment.  If you wish to schedule a parent or family-only session, please discuss it with your clinician.
  • Please call at least 24 hours prior if you need to cancel an appointment. Missed appointments and late cancellations are subject to payment of the full appointment fee as insurers do not provide coverage for this.
  • Please note that if you arrive late for your appointment, you may be asked to reschedule.
  • For medical records requests, including needing forms filled out or letters written, please call (205) 440-6292. Please be aware that these services are subject to charges.

Alabama psychiatry and counseling accepts most commercial insurance plans as well as Medicare. Insurance policies vary greatly in what mental health services will be covered and what co-payments are required under your insurance plan. Once your appointment has been scheduled, our administrative support staff will offer assistance is determining your insurance coverage. We also encourage you to call your insurance company prior to your scheduled appointment to determine coverage and co-payments. You co-payment and any deductibles and balances, which may apply, will be collected when you check-in. Alabama psychiatry and counseling accepts cash, debit and major credit cards. Balances and payment arrangements are the patient's responsibility and should be treated as a personal commitment.

Alabama Psychiatry and Counseling accepts payment via insurance, cash, debit and credit cards.

You may call (205) 440-6292 and leave a message for you for provider. You may also access your provider via the patient portal. Once you are an established patient, an invitation will be sent to your email so that you may be set up a username and login to the patient portal.

Please submit medication refill requests using our new Refill Request Form.
