Dr. Adeel Rabbani, MD, MPH

Dr. Adeel Rabbani is a board certified Adult and Child Psychiatrist, certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in General Psychiatry, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychosomatic Medicine.

He has served on the teaching faculty at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the University of South Alabama. He has also served as an attending psychiatrist at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.

Dr. Rabbani’s clinical focus is on the use of medication management and psychotherapy in the treatment of wide range of psychiatric concerns. He enjoys caring for children, adolescents, and adults with Anxiety Disorders, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, and Depressive Disorders.

Dr. Rabbani earned his medical degree from Dow University of Health Sciences. He completed his General Psychiatry Residency at Texas A&M University Health Science Center and his Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at the University of Colorado at Denver. He also earned his Masters degree in Public Health from the Boston University.

Dr. Rabbani resides in Birmingham with his wife, 3 sons and their 2 cats and dog.

Dr. Emily Whitt


Emily Whitt, PsyD

Dr. Emily Whitt is a licensed clinical psychologist offering psychotherapy and psychological testing to children, adolescents, and adults. She completed her clinical internship at Miami Children’s Hospital in the department of psychiatry and was a member of their eating disorder treatment team. Dr. Whitt received her doctorate in clinical psychology from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida (2006)

Some of the treatment modalities she uses include, but are not limited to, Person Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Family Therapy. Dr. Whitt has specialized training in Family Based Therapy of Eating Disorders (The Maudsley Method) and in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a treatment for trauma.

Cecelia A. Watts, LPC


Cecelia Watts, LPC

Cecelia Watts is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Grief Recovery Specialist, and a Certified Critical Incident Stress Management Professional.  Cecelia has 22 years of experience in the counseling field.  She works with adults, adolescents, couples and families in a number of areas including, but not limited to,  substance abuse, eating disorders, grief, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma, relationships, emotional, physical and sexual abuse. Cecelia uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Person- Centered Therapy among other modalities to assist her clients.  

Cecelia received her Master's Degree in Counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1996 and became a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2001.

In Memoriam: Farah Khan MD, MPH

Dr. Farah Khan was the Founder of Alabama Psychiatry and Counseling and beloved colleague.

Dr. Khan earned her Masters degree in Public Health from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and her medical degree from Aga Khan University, Karachi, Pakistan. She completed her General Psychiatry residency at the Texas A&M University Health Science Center. Dr. Khan was Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in General Psychiatry and Psychosomatic Medicine. She also served on the teaching faculty at the University of South Alabama. Dr. Khan commenced practice in 2004. She specialized in the treatment of a broad range of psychiatric disorders including Bipolar Disorder, Depression, Schizophrenia, PTSD, OCD and Sleep Disorders.

Dr. Khan was known to all as a brilliant and passionate psychiatrist who positively impacted the lives and health of her patients.
